Does Acupuncture Work?

Like you wouldn't believe! But you don't have to even believe in it or understand a single thing about acupuncture to receive its benefits. This goes way beyond the placebo theory by the fact that children and animals have been scientifically proven to benefit greatly from this form of medicine- and they don't have any intellectual knowledge of the therapy that they are experiencing! It's OK to be skeptical as long as you remain open-minded and give things a chance to work. Then, when you start feeling undeniably better, you will have all the proof you need.

Does Acupuncture Hurt?

Not really, as Mr. Manziano uses very gentle techniques. You may feel a mild sensation when the needle is going in, but you may also not feel anything at all, or begin to feel relief from your pain. One of the biggest fears expressed by folks who have yet to experience acupuncture is that it will feel similar to an ordinary injection, and that is simply not the case. The ones used to draw blood have a thicker hollow needle that has a sharp cutting edge. In contrast, acupuncture needles are solid with a soft point on them and are very thin. When you hold it up you can barely see it, because acupuncture needles are the thickness of a fine hair. Most people get very relaxed after the needles are in, and many even fall asleep on the table.

For those who continue to suffer because they are afraid of needles, I offer several needle-free methods to get you better the natural way!

Is Acupuncture Safe?

Of Course! Rocco Manziano certified by a national regulatory board in Clean Needle Technique. He only uses sterilized, single-use stainless steel needles which are properly disposed of in a medical SHARPS container afterward.

How Can I Help You?

You will receive a thorough intake and report of findings, in fact probably the most detailed exam you probably have ever received! I do not do a 'five-minute drive-by', because the most important ingredient of my clinical success is taking the time to find out what exactly is causing you to experience illness or pain.

  • I treat You, and each individual will receive a custom-tailored plan to meet your specific needs.

  • Included in your session is diet and lifestyle counseling. Rocco provides you with easy to follow self-care methods which make in-office treatments more effective as well as improve your ability to stand on your own and prevent illness and injury in the future.

  • All of my nutritional and herbal formulas meet or exceed GMP standards, are manufactured in the United States, and are rigorously tested to assure safety as well as potency.

  • Honesty: I would never sell you a product or an excess of treatments than what is necessary just to make a quick buck. If I don't think I can help you, I will let you know up front and refer you to a provider that is better suited for your condition, and not waste your time.

Do You Take Insurance?

It is your responsibility to know the extent of your insurance coverage as it relates to acupuncture. If you need to know whether or not your insurance policy covers acupuncture before starting, call me at (541) 350-5792 or send me an email via the contact form.  I can then send you a detailed form that contains the questions you need to ask the insurance company, that you will fill out when you are on the phone with them. Please bring this completed form to your first appointment.

I am more than happy to provide assisstance in making sure you get the maximum qualified reimbursement for your policy.  However, I am not an in-network provider for any form of health care insurance, including HMO's, PPO's, Medicare, etc. You must pay in full on the day of treament. If your insurance plan covers out-of-network acupuncture (which some do), I will provide you with an itemized superbill receipt at the end of each office visit for you to submit to your insurance provider to recieve reimbursement.

Acupuncture can be covered with Flexible Spending (FSA's) or Health Savings Accounts (HSA's) when your regular insurance policy does not. Once again, you should always double-check with your provider (including having sufficient funds in that account); and if approved; you can then use the credit card assigned to that account for payment. Worker's Compensation or Personal Injury (PIP)/No Fault Auto Accident Info: You are likely to have acupuncture covered as part of these types of insurance claims; however you do need to be pre-authorized by the insurance company who is managing your claims before you get started.

Vitamins and herbal remedies are not included in any insurance policy at this point in time.

What are the Benefits of Acupuncture?

What I do is help you recover your own natural and powerful self-healing abilities, by removing the barriers that are preventing this. I offer solutions to problems by strengthening the individual, by addressing the cause of why the body is malfunctioning, not by “attacking the enemy”- in this case, disease; nor by masking the symptoms. That being said, the World Health Organization recognizes acupuncture’s effectiveness for over 100 common disorders, covering every system of the body.  Below is a short list that acupuncture has been proven to work beyond a shadow of a doubt by the results of this study:

  • Muscle /Joint/ Bone Disorders: Low back pain, Neck pain (including cervical spondylitis), Sciatica, Tennis elbow, Knee pain, Periarthritis of the shoulder, Sprains, Rheumatoid arthritis, Osteoarthritis

  • Neurological, Psychological & Pain-related Disorders: Treatment of chronic pain is comparable with that of morphine: Headaches, Migraines, Depression, Insomnia, Facial pain/spasm (including TMJ), Dental pain, Postoperative pain, Fibromyalgia, Bell’s palsy, Drug/Alcohol/Smoking Addiction

  • Gynecological Disorders: Primary dysmenorrhea, Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS)

  • Pregnancy & Labor:  Morning sickness, Induction of labor, Breech Birth Presentation, Deficient Lactation

  • UroGenital Disorders: Renal colic (kidney stones), Urinary retention, Sexual Dysfunction, Chronic Prostatitis, Prophylaxis against recurrent Lower Urinary Tract Infections (chronic UTI's)

  • Gastrointestinal Disorders:  Acute and chronic gastritis, Nausea and vomiting, Biliary colic (gallstones), Acute bacillary dysentery, Acute epigastralgia, Peptic ulcer, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Chronic Ulcerative Colitis, Diarrhea in Infants and Young Children

  • Immune, Allergy and Autoimmune Disorders:  Allergic rhinitis, Hay Fever, Asthma, Leucopenia, Hepatitis B, Epidemic Hemorrhagic Fever, Pertussis (whooping cough)

  • Skin Disorders:  Herpes Zoster, Neurodermatitis, Acne Vulgaris

  • Circulatory and Cardiac Disorders:  Stroke, Essential Hypertension (high blood pressure), Primary Hypotension, Psychosomatic Heart Disorders, Angina

  • Chemotherapy & Radiation Support: Reduces Radiation/Chemo Negative Side-Effects

In addition, there have been hundreds of studies that also verify the ability of acupuncture's effectiveness to treat many other conditions that are not listed above. Also, you do not need to be sick or injured to benefit from acupuncture, as it can be used to strengthen the body's ability to adapt to the seasons and stressful environments, as well as to improve athletic performance. What we I have to offer works great as a preventative medicine, where optimum nutrition and function of the body can be achieved before you actually get sick. In fact, if corrective measures are taken before the event of a full-blown disease, it most likely will be less severe, and oftentimes can be avoided altogether.

Some unforeseen side-effects from acupuncture include:
  • Relaxation
  • Improved Sleep
  • Increased Energy
  • Better Digestion
    • Even if they didn't come in specifically for help with these issues!
